Is Yoga off the mat the emerging solution you’re looking for?

When time is your most precious commodity and you don’t have the luxury of time for your personal practice, what can you do?

Adopting the application of yoga principles and philosophies into daily life, can give you the headspace you’re yearning for.

Here are some thoughts and ideas you can incorporate into your day to day work so you live with intention, awareness and a sense of interconnectedness with the world around you.

Mindfulness and Presence
Cultivating awareness in daily activities, whether you’re eating, working, or interacting with others.
Being fully present in the moment rather than getting caught up in distractions or worries about the past or future.

Be Kind
Practicing being kind towards yourself and others. A simple smile, a thank you and be uplifting for you and others.
Avoid harm, not just physically but also through words, thoughts, and actions.
Many yogis would refer to this as Ahimsa, which is one of the universal principles of non-violence of yoga.
When we consider how stressed, anxious and overwhelmed people are in work and life, cultivating this thought helps us to be kind to ourselves, reducing stress, regulating blood pressure and many other health benefits.

Authenticity
We “just know” when someone isn’t being authentic. We may even side step our own authenticity to be considerate to other people’s feelings. The yogic principle of Satya, meaning truthfulness can be challenging when we care deeply about others feelings, but speaking and acting in ways that align with your values and truths is beneficial to your own health and wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of your business.

Gratitude and Contentment
When we are constantly striving for more we can forget to be grateful for what we have. Fostering a sense of appreciation for what you have can be your greatest springboard to achieving even more in the future.
Find joy in the present moment, smile more, say thank you more often.

Connect and Be Of Service
You may often hear me say “How can I help you?” as I am prepared to offer my time, energy or resources selflessly to help others or animals, nature or our environment.
The principles of Karma yoga shines through in everything I do – even when I’m with my clients.
Building meaningful relationships and contributing to the well-being of others creates the space for more to come to me, so I can continue to do more good in the world.

Self-Reflection
Taking time to regularly reflect on your thoughts, actions, and patterns help you to better understand yourself and grow.
In business, be brave and explore what went well and how we can be even better. Being open and curious helps people align with your brand, service and values.

Be Adaptable and Resilient
Yoga on and off the mat shows us lessons of flexibility, patience, and perseverance. When faced with challenges we can bounce back when we come back to the foundations of a pose, ground and breathe.

Bringing principles of breathwork and meditation techniques helps us keep a lid onto stressful feeling and maintain calm in tough situations.
Yoga Off The Mat helps us live with intention, awareness and a sense of interconnectedness with the world.
