Is there anything in your business not created from thought?

From the initial concept of your great business idea to your website to how you deliver your service and treat your clients, everything has happened from a single thought.

Yet from the great thoughts, feelings of uneasiness, frustration, overwhelm often creep up creating paralysis of action.

Working with feelings is key

How do we get over those feelings?  Is it, as so many other people tell us, purely mind over matter?

From my many years of research on how our brain blocks our business my simple answer is “no” and here’s my reason why:

Feelings are associated with either a planned or actual action.  Most of the time we are thinking about what has happened in the past, or what may happen in the future.  Whichever way your thoughts are skewed generates feelings of apathy or excitement.

Excited, upbeat, happy thoughts are more likely to generate action and positive results.

Feeling uncertain, worried or overwhelmed send chemical triggers to the brain that “something” is not safe.  When the brain interprets the chemical receptors, the response is one of “I’m scared, keep me safe!” The result is you’ll find your day has passed you by and you still haven’t done what you said you needed to do to market and grow your business.

Keep Your Brain Safe and Happy

When you know you want to make improvements to your business, first consider how to work with the fundamentals of your brain.

Here are 5 steps to take:

  1. Get absolutely clear about what you will be doing and why.
  1. Monitor your feelings (not your thoughts) for anything other than feeling positive and excited.
  1. Make a clear plan taking account of where you are and exactly when you’ll achieve your success.
  1. Identify likely stress points and plan for physical activity, holistic massage or yoga that will change your feelings at a subconscious level.
  1. Take action and review your plan daily.

Mostly important is to continually monitor your feelings.  I often work on a 1-10 scale, which is different for each person.  For you to be positively moving forward, having impact and achieving your desired success your feelings should be between 8 and 10.  Any lower and momentum is lost.
